Greenwich Village Pied-à-Terre

Residential —

In a 1960s Greenwich Village brick building, Reddymade transformed a modest two-bed, two-bath apartment into a spacious, art-filled sanctuary for a Los Angeles-based couple.

As often, the design had to blend husband and wife’s tastes—one favoring clean-lined modernist aesthetics, the other drawn to textures and warmth. We synthesized these desires seamlessly, giving the couple an elegant and warm design dominated by beige and cream tones, with oak floors throughout.

Reddymade’s attention to detail extends to every element of the project—from custom-designed fixtures and furnishings to the careful curation of cutlery and dishes. A structural column was transformed into a sculptural feature with custom storage cubes crafted from etched mirror-finished bronze to create a bar. The design makes use of every inch, with careful consideration given to spatial layout.

The residence serves as an elegant backdrop for the couple’s extensive art collection, which includes works by Wolfgang Tillmans, Charles Gaines, Raymond Pettibon, and Richard Learoyd.

What began as a pied-à-terre has evolved into a destination in itself—a space where the owners find themselves increasingly drawn to spend time, transforming their occasional New York residence into a true second home.
